Zaira Wasim comes back on Twitter to preach, reminds everyone why she is a terrible ‘role…

Zaira Wasim is much of a pendulum, rather than an actor. This is not quite a far-fetched conclusion, rather, her to-and-fro movement in and out of social media bears testimony to the same. Zaira Wasim has habituated herself to hop on to social media platforms every now and then, and preach to lesser mortals like us. Wasim has turned out to be a constant tragedy, with nothing but pessimism to offer.

With India facing the CoVID-19 pandemic, and Cyclone Amphan battering Odisha and West Bengal even as Assam reels under floods, Zaira Wasim thought it best to once again use social media to further her views. Of course, she has the right to air her views. However, what explains her regular fleeing from social media when faced with rebuttals? Her tweet, linking the pandemic, locust swarm attacks and floods, and all other problems which India is faced with, was actually a quote from the Quran.

However, a person given to a history of such instances is obviously not going to let sanity come between her and social media. The actor had ‘quit‘ Bollywood last year, saying that it conflicted with her religion. However, she has not quit making news just yet. Many considered this particular tweet not only insensitive, but offensive as well. For instance, who are the “people given to sin”, and do they deserve to be condescendingly sermonized by a 19-year-old girl whose ‘iman’ shakes with the slightest of praise?

Zaira Wasim is a self-righteous individual, and brazenly orthodox while at it, or that’s what we are made to understand with her regular ‘statements’ on social media. Take for instance the statement where she calls upon people to refrain from praising her as it is a threat to her oh-so-pious ‘iman’. “Instead, I urge everyone to not praise me in any manner but pray that Allah overlooks my shortcomings, which are too many to count, and fills the void in my heart with the light of His Mercy, Taqwa and increases me in Iman, rectifies my intentions and grants me knowledge that is beneficial and a heart and tongue that remembers Him at all times and turns to Him often in repentance, and allow me to perform righteous deeds only for His sake, allow me to remain steadfast and cause me to live and die as a Muslim (wholly submitting to Him) Jazakum Allahu Khayran. Regards.” CRINGE.

In another ‘statement’, the former actor and current preacher once again decided to educate unknowledgeable “trolls” on social media. Although she didn’t provide a specific definition of a troll, we’re guessing its anyone who has an opposing view to hers, and who decided to air it.

Zaira Wasim is a Kashmiri, who should have been a great role model for the Kashmiri youth. But for reasons best known to her, she is acting as a clipper of wings for not just children in her region, but across the country. By going on relentlessly sobbing about how treacherous and sinful the professional world and industry is, she is acting as an inhibitor for those who want to make a mark in various fields. She has a negative impact on particularly Muslim girls, who dream of achieving something in life, and will hugely be demotivated by Zaira Wasim’s pious and regular rants.

Zaira Wasim comes out as a fundamentalist, whether consciously or unconsciously so is an answer which she must give.

Nevertheless, Zaira Wasim should refrain from making a show out of herself, and either hold her ground on social media, or not experiment with the same at all. What Zaira needs is guidance, for she is clearly not confident of any of her decisions. She should also immediately put an end to her condescending behaviour at a time when the nation is faced with a multi-frontal crisis.
