Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that he had a conversation with PM Modi on the sidelines of the G20 summit in New Delhi, where he told him about the alleged involvement of Indian officials in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Najjar in Canada. “I sat down with him and shared that we knew they were involved,” Trudeau said.
“In a usual response, he said that we have people who are outspoken against the Indian government living in Canada that he would like to see arrested,” he said.
Trudeau claimed that he explained Canada’s commitment to freedom of speech to PM Modi during their conversation. “I tried to explain freedom of speech,” he noted, adding that while criticism is protected, Canada remains vigilant against terrorism or incitement of hatred. “We have taken action in the past, and we are ready to take action now,” Trudeau said.
