Catherine, Princess of Wales, has hosted her annual Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey this year to thank those who support babies, young children and families across the UK.
One of the guests at the event was Rico, a 13-year-old footballer from Manchester who nominated his primary school coach Russell Gray to come along. However, Mr Gray was unaware he would be meeting the princess.
Rico told BBC Breakfast it was “amazing” to meet the princess, while Mr Gray joked he was “hoodwinked”, adding that the meeting was “exciting and terrifying”.
Royal Carols: Together at Christmas is airing at 7:45pm on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.
