The sudden demise of Nitin Desai has come as a shock to the film industry. Nitin, who was an art director and had worked on movies like Lagaan and Jodha Akbar, reportedly committed suicide at his studios, ND Studio, located in Karjat.
Although the police are still investigating the incident, a recent report suggests that a voice recording was found in Studio 10 of ND Studio which contains Nitin’s funeral wishes.
According to an insider, Nitin Desai has reportedly left a recording stating his desire for his funeral to be held at Studio 10. The same source also alleges that Nitin had made arrangements for his passing. “It was planned properly by ND. Last night he took all the keys from the security and told his boy to leave him alone at the Studio as he has some important work to be done,” the source claimed.
It is said that the art director saw his son off at the gate and instructed him to come back the next day, August 2, at 8:30 am. Additionally, Nitin instructed him to retrieve a recording from Studio 10 the following day. “In the recording, Desai has also mentioned not to take his ND Studios away from him. He also mentioned that his last rites should be performed at Studio no 10,” the source claimed.
As per reports, the funeral will take place on August 4.
During his 30-year career, Nitin Desai collaborated closely with renowned directors such as Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, and Ashutosh Gowariker as an art director in films like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Additionally, he designed sets for popular television shows including Kaun Banega Crorepati, Kamzor Kadi Kaun, Dus ka Dum, and Sacch ka Saamna.
