Vikramaditya Motwane Calls Out Pushpa 2’s Dominance in Theatres

Payal Kapadia has been nominated in the Best Director category at the Golden Globe Awards 2025 for her film All We Imagine As Light. This makes her the first Indian director to be nominated in this category at the prestigious award ceremony. The film also earned another nomination – Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language category.

Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane was among the many to congratulate Kapadia, however, he pointed out how there are no screenings left of the film. On the other hand, there are 36 shows a day of Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2: The Rule.

Taking to his Instagram story section, the filmmaker shared a screenshot of multiple screenings of Pushpa 2 and wrote, “And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean fuck all to us because we will throw her film out, not let it breathe or find an audience, and will have 36 shows of a day of one film in a single multiplex. Congratulations. We deserve this.”

Earlier this year, All We Imagine As Light won the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Meanwhile, after bagging the nominations at the Golden Globes, Payal Kapadia said, “I’m deeply honored by this nomination and grateful to the HFPA for this recognition. This is a celebration of everyone who worked so passionately on the film. To everyone in India, All We Imagine as Light is still in theaters—please go watch it and support us!”
