Merry Christmas, which marks the first collaboration between Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, premiered in theatres on Friday. The film directed by Sriram Raghavan is a holiday-set mystery thriller.
In an interview with a leading news portal, Vijay shared the initial reactions he received when cast opposite Katrina Kaif in the film. He expressed surprise at people’s questions, recalling their inquiries about whether his role was a guest appearance or if the film was heroine-centric. Despite being familiar with Katrina’s widespread recognition, there was uncertainty about how their on-screen pairing would be perceived, causing both the actor and others to have doubts.
Merry Christmas premiered in Tamil and Hindi in theatres on January 12, with distinct supporting casts for each language. In the Hindi version, Radhika Apte, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand play supporting roles. Meanwhile, the Tamil rendition includes Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams in supporting positions.
