Varun Dhawan had just started his new film post the lockdown titled Jug Jugg Jeeyo in Chandigarh. Sadly the actor was soon tested COVID-19 positive. While battling the virus, the actor was on social media promoting new songs of Coolie No 1 and also sharing yoga posts on his Insta-stories to show the world how he’s trying to take to yoga to recover. Today, a leading daily spoke to his yoga master Mihir Jog who’s conducting hour-long online sessions with the actor and indulging in yoga and some stretching exercises. “When one has a fever and other symptoms, it is advisable to rest and not tax the body. Over the last 10 days that Varun was on the road to recovery, we were focusing on his breathing, meditation, and practising gentle movements to help gain strength and flexibility,” said Mihir Jog.
Explaining further what all Varun Dhawan practised in these critical times, Mihir adds saying, “We practised anulom vilom and the cleansing technique, Mukha dhauti, which involves taking deep breaths using the abdomen, thus cleansing the lungs and throat during exhalation. We began with relaxed pranayama, bhramari breathing and yogic breathing. In doing these, one’s lungs get strengthened. After that, Varun graduated to more energising pranayama like kapalbhati.”

Mihir even revealed that Varun took to yoga in July this year after he felt a little tautness to his body for indulging in too many exercises at the gym. So it’s not just the illness that pulled the actor to yoga. The Coolie No 1 actor has been practising it in the last few months to gain flexibility and also achieve other perks that come with yoga.
