While the nation remains in a state of lockdown, actors and filmmakers are already planning about life post the pandemic. Even though the film business has come to a complete halt, the buzz about new films being planned is strong. Latest reports suggest that Varun Dhawan might step into Thalapathy Vijay’s shoes for the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, Theri, which released in 2016.
Unconfirmed reports about this remake being planned have been around for a while now. However, a recent report suggests that actor Varun Dhawan is in talks about playing the lead in its remake. Trade buzz also suggests that Atlee, who directed the original might come onboard for the Hindi version as well. Although, there is no official confirmation regarding the same yet.
The plot of Theri revolves around a baker, who holds a secret identity as a former Deputy Commissioner of police. He goes on a secret mission organised by the force. It would be interesting to see Varun playing this character.
Theri featured Amy Jackson and Samantha Akkineni in the lead roles, while Mahendran, Prabhu and Raadhika were seen in supporting roles. Theri is also being remade in Telugu with Ravi Teja. The film will apparently go on floors post the lockdown. Catherine Tresa will be playing the female lead in it.
