US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden launched a scathing attack on X chief Elon Musk, saying he was indifferent to free speech and democracy. He also dubbed Musk the world’s “dumbest smart person”.
Hunter Biden accused Musk of spreading misinformation about him and described the X owner as a “very damaged human being” in an interview with musician-turned-podcaster Moby.
In response, Musk mocked Hunter Biden over the infamous, sordid videos recovered from a laptop he left at a computer repair shop in Delaware in 2019.
“Exactly what ‘misinformation’ is he talking about?” Musk wrote on X.
“The dude made so many videos of himself doing crime that he should get an award for cinematography!” the X boss’s post on the micro-blogging site read.
The Department of Justice on Thursday filed new criminal charges against Hunter, accusing him of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes while spending millions of dollars on a lavish lifestyle.
Hunter Biden was hit with three felonies and six misdemeanour tax offences, according to an indictment filed in US District Court in Central California.
He faces up to 17 years in prison if convicted on the charges. The US Justice Department said its investigation into Biden is ongoing.
“The Defendant engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $1.4 million in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019,” the indictment read.
