Urvashi Rautela chops her hair in solidarity with Iranian women protestors, and Ankita…

Women across the globe are uniting in protest against the Iranian government by cutting their hair and joining the club is a former actress and Bollywood actress Urvashi Rautela took to social media and shared pictures of herself chopping her locks in support of protesters in Iran and Uttarakhand’s Ankita Bhandari.

Soon after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for allegedly violating Iran’s strict dress code and killed by police brutality, prompted protests in Iran. And 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari was allegedly killed in Uttarakhand last month by an ex-BJP leader’s son Pulkit Arya and two of his accomplices. This news has created a rave in the state, and people have been protesting and demanding the killers be hung to death.

Expressing her solidarity with the protestors demanding justice for Mahsa and Ankita, Urvashi penned a note on Instagram that read, “CHOPPED MY HAIR OFF ! cutting my hair in support of Iranian women and girls who have been killed in protests at the death of Mahsa Amini after her arrest by Iranian morality police & for all the other girls. And for 19-year-old girl my Ankita Bhandari from Uttarakhand. Around the world women are uniting in protest against the Iranian government by cutting their hair. Respect Women 🙏🏻🙏🏻 A Global Symbol For Women’s Revolution. Hair is seen as a symbol of the beauty of women. By chopping off hair in public, women are showing that they don’t care about society’s beauty standards and won’t let anything or anyone decide how they dress up, behave or live. Once women come together and consider one women’s issue as an issue of the entire womankind, feminism will see a new vigour.”

Global icon Priyanka Chopra had also expressed her support to Iranian protestors, but she was accused of hypocrisy for selective outrage.
