Biggest news on Tuesday evening America time was – uh-uh, not some undergrad grumpy debate, but – Taylor Swift endorsing Kamala Harris. For that helpful push from the very pop entertainer, Kamala can thank Donald Trump. Donald’s gremlins had recently gassed fake news that the Mistress of Swifties had endorsed the Don. Not true. That fakery was confirmed when Swift, in her endorsement message on Insta, explained that the spate of fake messages suggesting she supported the Orange One ‘really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.’ And transparency appeared in her note of Kamaladerie, which she signed off as ‘Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady’, referring to Trump’s running mate J D Vance’s jibe describing those who ran the Democratic Party.
Speaking of jibes, Elon bhai couldn’t resist Tayloring his own X-rated response: ‘Fine Taylor… you win… I will give you a child and guard your cats with my life.’ Cut up about her not endorsing His Chosen One, Musk’s taunt was as off-key as Swift’s song, ‘Invisible’, from her 2007 debut album. But as American pop culture gets weirder for the world to comprehend, will we ever see our own celebrities endorse anyone other than someone who’s already won?
