Ryan Mason insists it’s ‘normal’ that Harry Kane wants to end his career without ‘any regrets’ after Tottenham star’s explosive interview with Gary Neville… and jokes he’d like to play with Kevin De Bruyne too!
Tottenham‘s interim boss Ryan Mason has admitted it is ‘normal’ that Harry Kane doesn’t want to end his career with any regrets as he prepares to quit this summer to pursue his dream of winning trophies.
Kane, who is being linked with £150million moves to Manchester United and City, has opened up about his desire to leave Tottenham in an explosive interview with Gary Neville.
Mason predictably fielded numerous questions about Kane’s candid chat with the Sky Sports pundit at Friday’s press conference but attempted to deflect talk about the striker’s future by focussing in on Sunday’s crucial trip to Leicester, which they need to win to stand any chance of qualifying for Europe next season.

The former Spurs midfielder did however admit he understood why Kane would not want any regrets, having had his own career cut short prematurely before he achieved what he wanted to due to injury.
‘No player wants to end their career with regrets, I don’t think any human being likes having regrets either so it’s normal and I think every player in the world will say the same,’ he said.
‘My attention and I know every player’s attentions is on the weekend. The summer is the summer and next season is next season.
‘At the moment the only conversations that I have had and will be having will be about the game at the weekend with not only Harry but every other player in the squad.’

Mason never achieved what he wanted to in his career after being forced to retire due to injury
Mason admitted he was aware of Kane’s interview but has not watched it ‘because I’ve been on the training pitch preparing’.
The England forward dropped the biggest hint yet that he would prefer a move to City over United after describing Kevin De Bruyne as a ‘striker’s dream’ during his conversation with Neville.
When Mason was told what Kane had said, he rather playfully replied: ‘I wasn’t aware of that but I’d like to play with De Bruyne as well. I think every player would.

‘He’s a fantastic player and I’ve spoken to him a few times and he’s an exceptional person.’
Mason, who will take charge of his last game as Tottenham boss at the weekend, said the club will undergo a complete rebuild in the summer after a turbulent season.
He added: ‘I think things will happen in the summer because there’s a managerial change that needs to happen. That will happen and to echo the chairman’s words we need to get back to our DNA.’
