Three dead in Christmas dinner ‘food poisoning’ horror

Three women at a Christmas get-together have died after eating a festive cake.

Tatiana Denize Silva dos Anjos, 43, and Maida Berenice Flores da Silva, 58, died after having the Christmas dessert on December 23.

Meanwhile, Neuza Denize Silva dos Anjo, 65, was rushed to hospital in critical condition before also dying the following day.

Pictures of the cake, which was reportedly baked by Maida and her sister Zeli Terezinha Silva dos Anjos, 61, who is also in hospital, show it to be a Bolo de Natal – a Brazilian Christmas cake, the Mirror reports.

Three other family members also felt unwell after having the dessert, including a 10-year-old boy.

This happened during family get-together around the festive season, where seven people gathered to enjoy the cake at Zeli’s home in Brazil.

The country’s Civil Police are currently awaiting test results to find how the three deaths were caused, with with officer Marcos Vinicius Veloso leading the probe.

It believed Zeli ate two cake slices and was the first one to be taken to hospital after becoming severely ill.

The police have also launched a separate investigation and have asked for Zeli’s late husband’s body, who passed away in September due to food poisoning, to be dug up from his grave.

This is a breaking story, it’ll be updated soon.
