The Brilliance of Patna’s Khan Sir and why a section of Muslims loath him

In the day and age of online coaching when more often than not teachers act as mechanical dolls, going through the motions, there is one educator that has broken the mould of a conventional teacher. Khan Sir of the ‘Khan GS Research Center’ fame has amassed a humble following of his own on his YouTube channel which boasts of over 92 lakh subscribers.

The unique style of his teaching added with the rustic charm of the Bhojpuri-Maithili dialect is enough to tickle the funny bones as well as impart knowledge on serious topics with utmost ease to the students. And if you are a Bihari and have lost touch with your Bihari identity, hearing Khan Sir would be music to the ears as the nostalgia factor is dialled up certain notches.

However, despite his teaching brilliance and excellent man-management style, Khan Sir has invited the criticism of a section of Indian Muslims for being too secular and not abusing Hindus, as a radical Muslim does. Khan Sir had been trending on Twitter for the last few days and like the ‘wokes’ of the country, the Indian Muslims sought to cancel the teacher.

According to a TimesNow report, on April 24, Khan Sir shared a video on France-Pakistan relations, where he mentioned that the mass protests that took place in Pakistan between April 11-20 were for the expulsion of the French ambassador and to boycott the use of French gods. As the video quickly went viral, certain remarks in it irked some netizens and #ReportonKhanSir started trending on Twitter. Soon, many Twitter users criticised the video heavily and, said, called Khan Sir Islamophobic.

Some people are demanding action on Khan sir, while some people are refusing to consider Khan sir as a Muslim. But the way this teacher has presented his stand on terrorism, and the way he has taunted the militants, many people are also supporting him fiercely on social media.

For example, now watch this clip –

In this clip, Khan sir has taunted Pakistan’s absurd protests over France’s stand after Samuel Patty’s assassination. Along with this, he has expressed concern over the participation of the little kids in these demonstrations, “Hey kids, you should study now. Do you even know what you are participating in? Your father continued to make punctures, if you do not leave here, you will also pick up your father’s work.”

In one of the video, Khan Sir can be heard saying that “Modi Ji, I can guarantee you, there is no one to defeat you unless and until the Muslims stop abusing you, which they most certainly won’t,”. The Video was not received well by the Muslims who took offence at Khan Sir’s statements.

However, after receiving measly support in the crusade to besmirch Khan Sir, another controversy was initiated. Some netizens claimed that Khan Sir was actually a Hindu and his real name was ‘Amit Singh”. Some Twitter handles, drenched in their hatred for Khan Sir, termed him a Sanghi, BJP agent and ludicrously, an RSS pracharak.

After the rumours on his name went viral, Khan Sir released a video, wherein his trademark style, he answered the critics.

Similarly, there are several other videos where Khan Sir has had to defend himself after some sections of the minority community accused him of defaming the Muslims.

The entire controversy to pull down a teacher who is serving the poor students of the country nearly free of cost is abhorrent and downright cheap and does not bode well on part of some sections of the Indian Muslim community. Reported extensively by TFI, it is the zeal of a fresh convert that he asks those around him to prove their ‘Muslimness’ day in and out. While a teacher is imparting knowledge, the fundamentalists are out, trying to silence him. And that is essentially all one needs to know about secularism in India.
