Chiyaan Vikram who played 3 different characters in Thangalaan, said that Ranjit was always there to give him guidelines of what the person could look like.
With a compelling premise, engrossing plot, intriguing canvas, and astounding performances, Thangalaan has made waves since its premiere in various languages and is due to release in Hindi today, August 30. Chiyaan Vikram, who portrayed three distinct characters in the film, gave his all to polish each one.
In a recent interview, Chiyaan Vikram talked about the three different characters that he played and had three different looks for the same. He said, “One is a great-great-grandfather, his portion is a little lengthy. You have to show travel through time and the different generations of Thangalaan. He had to look like me but how different can we make him look? Ranjit was always there to inspire me and give me guidelines of what the person could look like”. Chiyaan Vikram was seen playing three different roles in Thangalaan, and he indeed performed his best in all.”
He played Arasan ‘Aaran’ (The Protector of Gold) and Thangalaan Muni, the great-grandfather of Thangalaan, Kaadaiyan. The actor, astonishingly, experienced significant physical changes for his parts. It is extremely uncommon for an actor to try losing weight and dressing as a character in nothing but a langot, but he did so for one of the roles. For another job, he also became partially bald. He had to wait four or five hours for makeup for a different job before arriving on set and beginning filming. It was also quite challenging to film in actual outdoor settings because the actors had to submerge themselves in muck to preserve the film’s raw, genuine vibe.
