One of the very first films to hit the big screen this year, Lokesh Kanaharaj’s Master has managed to wow the audiences and prove the undying importance of cinema halls in the current times. Starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, Master has garnered great numbers in just five days at the movies.
With over Rs. 81 crores in Tamil Nadu and Rs. 20 crores in Andhra Pradesh, Master has now made it to the 100 crore club in its first week itself. The film also tapped in Rs. 14 crores in Karnataka, Rs. 7.5 crores in Kerala and Ra. 2.5 crores in other Indian States in the first week. The film has made approximately Rs. 125 crores within a week at box-office. These numbers have been very reassuring since there are a lot of restrictions from the government on the occupancy rate of the halls due to social distancing norms. Despite the 50% capacity, the film is attracting audiences in big numbers to the theatres.
The film also stars Malavika Mohanan, Arjun Das, Andrea Jeremiah and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj in pivotal roles. The film did not attract a lot of Hindi-speaking audience and thus there is talk of a Hindi remake being considered for this flick.
