Suriya recently discussed the family’s decision to move to Mumbai, enabling his wife, Jyotika, to reconnect with her parents after years of living in Chennai. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Suriya explained that Jyotika shifted to Chennai at a young age and dedicated 27 years to their life there. Now, she is finally able to enjoy time with her parents and friends.
“She gave up her career, friends, and Bandra lifestyle for me,” Suriya remarked, emphasizing that Jyotika’s need for independence, family time, and personal space inspired the move. He said, “Whatever a man needs, a woman also needs that. Why take away her time from her parents and her lifestyle?”
Suriya also shared that relocating has benefited their children, Diya and Dev, who now attend international schools and enjoy a wider range of opportunities. He added that he’s balancing work between Chennai and Mumbai, reserving ten days a month for uninterrupted family time. On the work front, Suriya is set to appear in Kanguva, releasing on November 14, while Jyotika recently wrapped filming for Dabba Cartel.
