Gisele Bündchen in a new ad for IWC wearing the new Portofino Chronograph 39 (Ref. IW391502)
Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has partnered with IWC. First, she will star in a worldwide advertising campaign featuring the latest IWC Portofino models. In addition, she was named as the Swiss luxury watch brand’s first Environmental and Community Projects Advisor. IWC hasn’t described the responsibilities of this position but it should complement her role as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environmental Program, which she’s held since 2009.
With this partnership, Bündchen joins her husband, football star, Tom Brady, one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history, who has been an ambassador for IWC since 2019.
The Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 with diamond-set bezel and hour markers
In a 27-year career, Bündchen, became one of the world’s most famous models during the highpoint of the supermodel era. In the ad campaign, she wears different watches from the new Portofino collection, including the new Portofino Chronograph 39 (Ref. IW391502), which combines the classic Portofino design with a column-wheel chronograph movement. The 39mm stainless steel case houses a silver-plated dial, and rhodium-plated hands and hour markers. The in-house manufactured 69355 caliber powers the watch and has a 46-hour power reserve. The chronograph movement can measure stop times of up to 30 minutes. It can be viewed through a sapphire glass case back.
The watch is fitted with a beige strap made of fully traceable Swiss calf leather, IWC said in a statement. IWC’s integrated quick-change system allows the watch to be paired with other straps.
The Portofino Automatic 34 Day & Night with diamond bezel and hour markers
IWC is also introducing 34mm and 37mm Portofino models. The Portofino Automatic 34 collection includes a model with a Day & Night complication. All timepieces come with new colors, calfskin straps, and what the brand describes as a newly engineered metal bracelet.
The Portofino Automatic 37 and Portofino Automatic Moon Phase 37 feature automatic movements from the IWC-manufactured 32000 caliber family with a power reserve of 120 hours and sapphire glass casebacks.
The IWC Portofino Chronograph 39
Several models feature with diamond-set bezels. IWC says the case geometry has been “optimized to accommodate larger diamonds,” which allow them to “reflect the light better.” Some models are adorned with diamond hour markers.
The Portofino Chronograph 39 is available through IWC boutiques, authorized retail partners or online at IWC. It’s eligible for registration under the “My IWC” care program.
