Suniel Shetty urged Yogi to remove “boycott Bollywood” trends

Suniel Shetty Boycott trends: Since time immemorial, it has been the silence of the majority that has bolstered the confidence of wrongdoers. They hijack the sphere and start peddling their vicious propaganda in the name of mainstream narrative if not confronted at the appropriate time. For decades, the Hindi film industry provided numerous reasons to rejoice. Over the years, Bollywood became a powerful medium of entertainment, soft power, and mass communication.

But currently, it has no takers at all. Every step it takes towards reconciliation with the audience is blowing in its face. Its image has taken such a heavy toll that it seems beyond redemption in its current shape and form.

Bollywood is failing to correctly diagnose its remedy

2022 proved to be a year of unimaginable miseries for the Bollywood fraternity, which has finally ended. The year saw the onslaught of several boycott trends that razed the Bollywood industry to smithereens. Right from eerie silence to denial, mockery, arrogant statements, desperate counters, and final surrender, Bollywood tried everything to swim against the tide. There was a time when several actors even tried to threaten audiences with dire consequences for these boycott trends.

But it seems that the new year has finally brought some sense to Bollywood, which was otherwise moving on the path of abject arrogance. Now, a large section of the Hindi cinema fraternity has come out openly to disassociate themselves with the “rotten apples” of the industry.

Recently, UP CM Yogi Adityanath held an intense deliberation with several notable faces of the Hindi film industry. The meeting was held to seek their valuable suggestions for the proposed film city project in the state. Several stars like Ravi Kishan, Jackie Shroff, Subhash Ghai, and Suniel Shetty interacted with CM Yogi Adityanath for the same.

Key takeaway

However, the request by Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty to the UP CM became the main takeaway of the meeting. The Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty urged the UP CM to help the film industry remove the stigma of “boycott Bollywood” that has resulted in the ill-fate of the industry.

In his plea to remove Boycott Bollywood trends, Suniel Shetty highlighted the positive side of the industry. He argued that barring the few rotten apples that every profession has, 99% of the industry’s people don’t consume drugs and focus on hard work. He then went on to urge UP CM Yogi Adityanath to end the deranging hashtag that has badly rattled the industry and asked him to convey this earnest request to PM Modi as well.

He said, “This hashtag needs to be removed, and there can be a rotten apple in the basket, but all of us are not like that. Our stories and our music connect to the world, and hence the stigma needs to be removed. Please convey this message to PM Narendra Modi as well.”

The rot that has consumed Bollywood from within

Although the appeal made by the veteran Bollywood actor seems to be misdirected and misinformed, but it has highlighted the fact that there still exists a cabal in Bollywood that has committed every possible sin for which the industry is rightfully facing the ire of audiences and has reached this sorry state of affairs. This cabal is nothing more than a rabid Hindu hater elitist class that abjectly wants to tarnish everything that India stands for. They include the likes of Karan Johar, Swara Bhaskar, Anurag Kasyap, and Akhtar, among others.

Through their filthy content, they have brazenly passed off drugs, illicit acts, senseless rage, rebellion, and anti-societal norms as trendy and cool things. Pushing insane amounts of propaganda, such as villain glorification by needlessly humanising their stories, as well as the twisted sense of several “isms” such as feminism and wokeism, have created a wedge between the industry and audiences. Along with these spices, the bashing of Hindu religion and tradition has always taken central stage.

With the acceptance of a fringe group of wrongdoers, Bollywood has to realise that these boycott trends have nothing to do with any political organization; it has always been a voluntary, decentralised audience movement that has always given space, recognition, and respect to Bollywood’s talented lot of artistes and content-driven movies, and will continue to do so. So, if the Hindi film industry truly wants to redeem itself from its previous standings, then it must start naming and shaming those rotten apples and collectively ostracise them for their own good.
