Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has suggested that Ferrari have the best pairing in history for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The 40-year-old racer joined the Italian carmakers ahead of this year’s campaign with hopes of winning a record-extending eighth Drivers’ Championship.

Before the season commenced, the British motorsport icon expressed that he and Charles Leclerc might be the strongest pairing the sport has ever witnessed in its 75-year history. He made the bold claim in a video shared by Scuderi Ferrari on X. “We’re the strongest pairing F1 has probably ever had,” Hamilton said.

Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 career has been nothing short of extraordinary. The British racer has previously shared the paddock with several iconic names. The long list includes the 2016 champion Nico Rosenberg at Mercedes and two-time world champion Fernando Alonso. Hamilton and Alonso were teammates at McLaren in 2007. The 40-year-old, however, feels that the current line-up with Charles Leclerc in Ferrari is the best he has ever seen.

In the same video, Lewis Hamilton talked about how he always dreamt of donning the red Ferrari kit. “I have always imagined what it would be like sitting in the cockpit, surrounded by red,” he said. “I have always seen the drivers that came before me in red and wondered how that would feel for me, you know,” Hamilton added.

The Formula 1 2025 season will kick off on March 13 with the Australian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton also expressed his excitement about competing in his first race in a Ferrari shirt. “I’m really grateful. We had good testing last week. I can’t believe the race is already next week so already started to make my venture to Australia on Friday. It’ll start to sink in a little bit as this weekend before arrives,” he said as per Sky Sports.

After 12 years at Mercedes, Lewis Hamilton’s new adventure with Ferrari comes at the start of his 19th season on the grid. He will be racing for, arguably, F1’s most legendary team nearly two months after his 40th birthday. While McLaren will head into the opening event of the 2025 season as the team to beat, Ferrari also appears in the mix at the front. Charles Leclerc scored more points than any other competitor in the second half of 2024. With Hamilton’s arrival, it is quite evident that the Scuderi are now determined to end their 17-year title world title drought.
