The first season of Squid Game, the popular South Korean survival thriller series garnered a massive fan-following almost overnight. Now, as the show is set to return for another instalment, actor Lee Jung Jae who played the protagonist Seong Gi-Hun has shared an update on filming along with plot details.
As per reports on a leading news portal, Lee Jung Jae revealed that Squid Game 2 will begin filming this summer. Talking about the plot, he said, “As we all saw at the end of season 1, the main plot of season 2 will be revenge, and the key figure who controlled the workings of the games in season 1 was Lee Byung Hun sunbae, so it seems that the two of us will be the central figures of this next story.”
Viewers will remember the Front Man played by Byung Hun in the show. By the end of Season 1 we see Gi-Hun wins the Squid Game. He is seen in a new look with red hair as he makes his way to the airport to fly to the US and see his daughter. However, he changes his mind and turns back to presumably get his revenge
Teasing that Squid Game Season 2 will be bigger than the first instalment, Lee Jung Jae revealed that filming is expected to go on for 10 months and that fans will have to wait a little longer before new episodes drop.
Squid Game 2 was greenlit in June 2022. It will arrive on OTT in 2024.
