Southern Thailand is grappling with severe flooding that has impacted tens of thousands of people.
The floods have been particularly devastating in the province of Narathiwat, near the Malaysian border, where districts have been submerged for days. Continuous torrential rains have led to the inundation of roads and railways, closure of schools, and residents being trapped in their homes, some resorting to taking refuge on their rooftops.
The situation at sea is also perilous, with at least seven boats reported sunk in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea due to the adverse weather conditions. The Thai state railway has had to halt services heading towards Malaysia, and authorities are urging residents to prepare for possible evacuation as the situation remains critical.
