Sotheby’s Launch A Charity Auction — Bid For A Coffee With Hillary Clinton, Record A Song…

To help raise funds for the International Rescue Committee and their efforts in combatting COVID-19 in vulnerable communities, Sotheby’s has teamed up with Google to host a sale of virtual experiences. And there are some incredible virtual experiences to bid for, from recording a song with Sting, to an online makeup tutorial with Charlotte Tilbury, hang out with Sacha Baron Cohen, have a cooking lesson with Heston Blumenthal and even take tea (virtually) with Hillary Clinton.

“Sotheby’s has a long tradition of supporting charitable organizations in times of need. We are proud to bring our centuries of experience and the power of our online auctions to bear against the impact of COVID-19. With the partnership of Google and so many leading figures who have pledged to support this unique venture, we hope to be able to deliver meaningful resources for the extraordinary efforts of the International Rescue Committee, needed now more than ever.” Charles Stewart, CEO of Sotheby’s

Bidding has just commenced and will be live until 8 May, and not only has every experience been offered without reserve, winning bidders also have the option to share their experience with frontline workers and others who have been directly impacted by COVID-19.

“Apollo was the moment of our cosmic birth, ‘our’ meaning all of us, and it is that scale of being, all of us, who are simultaneously and virtually without exception being existentially challenged. And indeed, we clearly see that we are all responsible for one another, in very immediate ways.”

When asked what does he find comfort in when faced with catastrophe, Rusty says, “My sense of identity with the Universe, the sense I have that we humans, we life here on Earth, are part of a great universal process.” Russell ‘Rusty’ Schweickart

“As a global community we are only as strong as the weakest link in the chain and millions of refugees and displaced people are now facing a double emergency with the virus reaching their communities. With those most vulnerable in need of all the help that we can give, we would like to thank Sotheby’s, Google and all the luminaries who have agreed to participate and donate their time for this auction in support of IRC’s front-line efforts to help stop the spread of Covid-19 in vulnerable communities around the world.” David Miliband, President & CEO of The International Rescue Committee
