Time travelling back to simpler times in the ’80s is surely a joyride. When an actor has to revisit a certain decade for a role, it’s always exciting for the artist. Right from the clothes, the ambience to the complexities even in simple times makes the character and film more interesting. Bengali actress Sohini Sarkar is one of them right now.
Sohini Sarkar’s next is Ei Ami Renu where she teams up with Soham for the first time in this ’80s drama. The film is based on a novel with the same name, and the actress plays a government officer’s wife in it. Speaking about the film and the experience of it, the actress spoke to E Times about it. She said, “I spoke to quite a few people born and grew up in the 1980s and most of them say they enjoyed reading the novel. They all are so excited for the film to release. This film narrates the story of a generation that was never dependent on mobile phones and the internet. I believe the way we have shown romance with a different kind of equation, and use of letters will surely give a refreshing take on love to the audience.” The actress is super kicked about this one and we can’t wait to watch this drama unfold on the big screen.
Soham who play Sohini’s husband in the film is also kicked about this one. He said that the film is a period film and had an amazing time shooting with Rohini. “I worked with her for the first time and I must say she is a brilliant actress. I also worked with Kaushikda (Ganguly) for the first time though he directed me a long time back.” Ei Ami Renu releases in theatres on April 9 and also stars Kaushik Ganguly, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Soham Chakrabarty and Anindya Chatterjee.
