Shah Rukh Khan reveals why he didn’t want his role in Devdas to be liked

Shah Rukh Khan recently revealed why he didn’t want his role in Devdas to be liked. The actor wanted his character to come across as ‘spineless,’ adding that he didn’t want audiences to be influenced by it.

Shah Rukh said, “I don’t like to play characters who demean women. This is probably the reason why I didn’t like my character in the movie. I don’t want the audience to like my Devdas character, who disses a woman. In fact, I wanted it to come across as a spineless person who shouldn’t be looked up to by anybody. Yes, the enactment might be nice. Bhansali made the move beautifully and even though it’s not negative, I didn’t want the character to be popular as it had issues with women.”
