Shaakuntalam, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The mythological drama is directed by Gunasekhar and is all set to hit theatres on April 14, this year.
The makers of the film announced the new date via a tweet and shared a new poster along with it. They tweeted, “The Love that was forgotten… An unforgettable tale of Love that remains. #Shaakuntalam in theatres worldwide on April 14.”

Earlier, on Tuesday, the makers of the film that was initially set to be released this month, announced that the film has been postponed. The official statement from Shaakuntalam’s makers said, “We regret to inform our beloved audience that we would not be able to release Shaakuntalam this 17th of February. We would be announcing the release date soon.”
Shaakuntalam is based on the legendary Sanskrit play by Kalidasa. It will see Samantha play the titular character while Dev Mohan will play King Dushyant. It also features Aditi Balan, Mohan Babu and Allu Arha, Allu Arjun’s daughter.
So far, the film’s trailer and two songs are out. It remains to be seen what the new release date will be.
