Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the most awaited movies. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, this epic is getting grander by the day. Reports suggest that 12 massive sets are being constructed in Mumbai’s Film City to recreate Ayodhya and Mithila. These sets are expected to be ready by mid-August, following which the cast will resume shooting.
The film grand budget is of Rs 835 crore just for Part One. According to a source close to the film, “Ramayana is not just a film but an emotion, and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to make it a global spectacle. The idea is to take the audience on a visual treat with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram.”
Ranbir Kapoor will play Ram, while Sai Pallavi will portray Sita, and KGF star Yash takes on the role of Raavan. Arun Govil, famed for his role as Lord Ram in Sagar’s Ramayan, will appear as King Dasharatha, and Lara Dutta will play Kaikeyi. Rumours also suggest Sunny Deol might join as Hanuman, though this is not officially confirmed yet.
Recently, Kunal Kapoor joined the stellar cast, reportedly busy with rehearsals and costume trials. With 600 days of post-production planned, the makers aim to elevate Indian Cinema to a global level. Ramayana’s release date hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s rumored to hit theatres in 2027.
