Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with cancer last year, during the lockdown. The actor decided to go in for chemotherapy and emerged a survivor in October last year. He took a short sabbatical from work before heading back to his lined up projects like Bhuj, Shamshera and KGF 2.
On World Cancer Day, his doctor, Dr. Jalil Parker spoke to Times of India about the moment Sanjay Dutt found out about his ailment and his instant reaction. He said, “Initially, it came as a rude shock to him. He said that he had gone through a lot of turmoil in life. He went, ‘Why has God chosen me for this?’”
He further added that the actor was quick to take decision regarding he treatment and went in for chemotherapy in time, “Based on our histopathology reports and a second opinion from consultants abroad, Dutt and his family chose to take chemotherapy treatment at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. I guess he knew Mr Anil Ambani and his wife Tina, which was fine by us. It’s a patient’s prerogative where he wants to be treated and hospitalised. He started taking the chemotherapy protocol which we had prescribed and kept us in the loop; soon he updated us that he was feeling better.”
Dr. Parkar praised Dutt for showing strength and willpower in trying times and keeping a clear head in getting treated.
