There have been rumours circulating that Salman Khan and Karan Johar will be collaborating on a film after 25 years. Their last project together was in 1998 when Salman made a cameo appearance in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and they haven’t worked together since. Although there were discussions about teaming up on Shuddhi and Kesari in the past decade, those plans did not come to fruition. However, it appears that this time, everything’s coming together smoothly.
As per an entertainment news portal, Karan Johar pitched a heartwarming father-daughter story to Salman Khan with the involvement of a young director on October 22. They had two meetings regarding the project, but the talks were halted as Salman was hesitant to take up a human drama at that point. He requested Karan to come back with a bigger and better idea.
In January 2023, Karan approached Salman again, this time with a project that would be directed by Vishnu Vardhan, the director of Shershaah. The three of them had around 10-12 meetings to discuss various aspects of the film. Despite this, there has been no official agreement yet, and they are currently working towards making the collaboration a reality.
It was previously speculated that Salman would release this project in 2024 for Eid. However, recent reports have confirmed that it will not be an Eid release. If Salman agrees to do the film, it is expected to enter pre-production and casting stages within 2-3 months. Shooting for the film may begin in November 2023, at the earliest. As the movie is set to be a large-scale production, the team will make decisions as things start materialising.
Salman Khan is currently preparing for his highly anticipated movie, Tiger 3, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. Additionally, the film will feature a cameo appearance by Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan. Once the shooting for Tiger 3 wraps up by the end of May, Salman will likely make a decision about Karan’s film.
