Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have made history. The two just became the first married couple to hold the first two spots at box offices since 1990. The last time this happened was when Bruce Willis and Mandy Moore ruled box offices when Die Hard 2 and Ghost released in theatres.
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine in which he featured alongside Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin and more, had a successful opening earning over $54 million. Meanwhile, Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us which also features Justin Baldoni, Bradnon Sklenar and more followed close behind as the film earned $50 million since its release.
For the unversed, in 1990, Hollywood couple Demi Moore and Bruce Willis enjoyed similar success. Willis’ iconic action film Die Hard 3 released earlier in July while Moore’s Ghost released two weeks later. Both films topped the box office. Ghost went on to bag five Oscar nominations and took home two wins.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have shared screen space in the 2011 film Green Lantern. The Gossip Girl star also made a cameo appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine as Ladypool.
