Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s Pushpa 2: The Rule has created history by becoming the fastest film to join the 1000-crore club, achieving this remarkable milestone within just six days. While several movies did achieve this feat, including Pathaan, Jawan, KGF 2 and RRR, none of them crossed this figure so quickly. Hence, Pushpa 2: The Rule has become a record-breaking movie for several different reasons.
The main reasons behind the movie’s success
The film was made available on over 12,500 screens worldwide, making it the largest release in the nation’s cinema history. By releasing the movie on such a massive scale, the makers ensured maximum visibility which contributed to its record-breaking earnings.
Another crucial factor contributing to the massive success of Pushpa 2 is its star-studded cast and massive budget. The film brings together a powerhouse of talent, including Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and an ensemble of supporting actors. This, combined with high production values, has given the film a larger-than-life feel, which audiences love.
In addition to the massive release and its cast, the film’s promotional strategy also played a crucial role. The makers took the film on a tour across 7 major cities, making the film reach a wider audience. The cities included Patna, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Hyderabad. Needless to mention, the event attracted huge crowds.
Lastly, a key factor behind Pushpa 2‘s record-breaking success is the immense star power of Allu Arjun and the loyal fan base he commands. Allu Arjun has built a massive following over the years, not just in the South but across the country and even internationally. His charisma and unique screen presence have a magnetic effect on audiences, driving them to theatres in large numbers. The film’s massive appeal can also be attributed to the built-in anticipation surrounding the sequel to Pushpa, which already had a solid fan following after its successful run.
The success of Pushpa: The Rise and Pushpa 2: The Rule
Pushpa: The Rise made a significant impact at the box office, crossing 350 crores globally. On its opening day, the movie netted ₹44 crores in the country with a gross of around ₹53 crores and had set a post-pandemic record for day one. The film featured Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, a coolie who rises in a syndicate that smuggles red sandalwood, along with Fahadh Faasil, Rashmika Mandanna, Dhananjaya, Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil and Ajay Ghosh.
Pushpa 2: The Rule, however, earned Rs 593 crore in India, with Rs 331 crore coming from the Hindi market alone in its first five days. However, the film had a decent start in Kerala. According to reports from Sacnilk, on day 1, it earned Rs 4.95 crore, but fell down to Rs 1.85 crore the next day and Rs 1.85 crore and Rs 1.90 crore on the third and fourth day, respectively.
Nevertheless, Pushpa 2: The Rule has become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2024 with Rs 1,062 crore globally and Rs 689.44 crore in India. Undeniably, Pushpa 2 has shattered records and continues to soar at the box office.
