Ravish Kumar: A ‘neutral’ journalist or a cheap troll?

Mark Twain, one of the greatest humorist once said, “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough”, well the second part may be debatable but the first part must be held true seeing what the Magsaysay Award winner, Ravish Kumar have turned into. His hate for the Hindu community, Bharatiya Janata Party and the Prime Minister has made him turn into a cheap troll, who has lost all his journalistic caliber he once had.

In October 2022, Ravish Kumar launched his Youtube Channel. He resigned from the NDTV on the 30th of November, a day after the channel’s founders and promoters Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy resigned as directors on the board of RRPR Holding Private Limited.

Before severing ties with NDTV, Ravish Kumar questioned the credentials of other journalists on a daily basis. After corroding all his journalistic credentials, he continues to drag out the same retarded monologue. Apart from getting clicked alongside opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Kumar has been parroting their line in the garb of “neutral journalist”.

For the left, Ravish Kumar is a reputed figure and his political leanings are well known. But even if one oversees his political-social biasedness, the videos he comes up with are nowhere near to meet the journalistic standards. His videos have no content other than his meltdown and rant on Hindu and BJP bereft of logic and facts.

For instance, on the 5th of November, he uploaded a video on his youtube channel with the caption ‘Murjha gaya middle class’ which can be translated to ‘Middle-Class withered’. In this video, Ravish Kumar tries to spread the propaganda that since the factors like inflation and unemployment are all time high, the middle class has turned towards communalism.

The entire video is full of rant from Ravish Kumar who seems to be angry over the fact that the same middle class who once used to take his words as some sacred pearl once are now rejecting his propaganda journalism.

In the deranged video against Middle class, Ravish Kumar goes on to blame Hindus in the name of middle class accusing them to be communal who get a wave of pleasure by seeing a bulldozer destroying the house of a poor muslim in India but forgets to mention that the bulldozer actions were carried out on illegal structures after following due process of the law.

Cat gets his tongue, when it comes to mentioning the rampant cases of illegal encroachment and adding that the miscreants whom the usual suspects try to portray as victim of state-sponspored targeting, were engaged in destroying public properties, creating animosity against the state and pelting stones on Hindu religious processions.

While in his cynicism, the pro-Gazza journalist will continue to paint Middle class – majority of whom belongs to Sanatan Dharma, it must be categorically noted that Hindus do not celebrate the destruction of a poor person’s home, but rather desires the rule of law.

Moreover, Ravish Kumar expresses dissatisfaction from the fact that religious notions in the Hindu society are rising and they are no more apologetic of their roots. He tries to take a shot at Hindus by saying “Middle class ka beta Hindu ban raha hai jiska sapna tha bade hokar IAS banne ka” which translates to “Middle class youths are becoming Hindu-ised rather than becoming IAS officers”, as if taking pride and connecting with their Hindu roots is criminal, down right communal or aimed at targeting others.

This clearly illustrates the extent of the animosity Ravish appears to harbor toward Hindus. Why is Ravish so tense to see Hindus becoming more religious?? Is being a religious Hindu and becoming IAS contradictory to each other?? Will Ravish and his ilks ever dare to use the same sentence for the muslim community and ask them not to become Muslim but IAS officers?? With the ranting going downhill, Kumar has lost the credibility of being called a journalist but has resorted to being a cheap troll.
