Rapid responder – Nation News

The district’s first woman collector was on the alert since February-end after 17 Italian tourists visited Udaipur. They had stayed at the Trident before moving to Jaipur where two of them tested positive. She got the Trident sealed and sanitised and the entire staff quarantined while tracing everyone the tourists had come in contact with. Along with a control room, police and mobile app, she has created a three-tier system where different teams cross-check on quarantined people. Under her, 500 beds in the city’s government medical college have been dedicated to COVID-19; 10,000 beds in 26 institutions set aside for isolation.

Anandi also identified 6,015 needy people not covered by government schemes and arranged for Rs 2,500 in cash and delivery of 45,000 raw food packets, benefitting some 172,000 people.

She successfully home quarantined 80,000 migrants from Gujarat through aggressive tracking. When she found that about 800 migrants who were stopped on way to other states had lactating mothers among them, she ensured baby food and feeding spaces. She got those with tailoring skills to stitch masks. “Anandi is extremely dedicated,” says Dr Jit Singh, a veterinarian surgeon. “Her use of social media and local support against Covid has won wide appreciation.”
