Ranbir Kapoor pointed out that while an actor may not receive recognition straight away, the right part at the right moment might alter people’s opinions
Ranbir Kapoor is one of those actors who easily shapes himself for any character. Over a career span of more than one decade, Ranbir has delivered some of the hit films. However, recently, Ranbir discussed his Bollywood journey and who he sees as a good competitor in the industry.
During a recent conversation with Nijhil Kamath in his podcast – People by WTF, Ranbir was asked which actor he feels is his competition. To this, Ranbir said there are various talented actors in the industry including Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, and Kartik Aaryan. Explaining more about the answer, the Animal said it is always not about the actor and their skills but also the movies and opportunities they get.
He pointed out that while an actor may not receive recognition straight away, the right part at the right moment might alter people’s opinions. In addition, Kapoor emphasised talking about Kartik Aaryan and said he exudes charisma and possesses that certain personality on screen.
Ranbir also addressed the criticism that his film Animal faced. He said that social media played a big role in bringing all the negative comments.
He said, “Social media played havoc. They needed something to talk about, so they really went to town claiming it was a misogynistic film. What happens is that the hard work that you put in. I know the director had made Kabir Singh, who also faced the same thing, the hard work gets diminished. Because it gets this tag, which isn’t true, the perception stayed with this film. So, the general public will speak very fondly about the film, but there are many people I meet who tell me, ‘You shouldn’t have done this film, we are so disappointed in you.’
He further added, “And a lot of people from the film industry (said the same thing). I quietly apologize and say, ‘Sorry, I won’t do it next time.’ I don’t really agree with them, but I am in that phase of my life where I don’t argue with anyone. If you don’t like my work, I will say I am sorry and will try harder next time.”
