Ranbir Kapoor recently opened up on his relationship with his late father, actor Rishi Kapoor. The actor spoke candidly about his beliefs about religion, claiming that his father was crucial in “instilling” them in him.
Rishi, who passed away on April 30, 2020, at the age of 67 after a brief battle with leukaemia, was “very religious,” according to his son and actor Ranbir Kapoor. The late actor, according to Ranbir, “would pray twice a day” and say “jai” whenever he passed a small temple. He claimed that part of the reason he believed in God was because he had grown up watching his father.
In an interview with a leading news organisation, Ranbir said, “I’m an intense human being and I believe in God. My father was very religious and pious. He would pray twice a day. While travelling by car, whenever he saw any small mandir, he would say, ‘jai’. Such things are instilled in you from your childhood days so you carry these traditions forward. We love our traditions, love our Gods and I’m like that only. I’m intense, but my personality is very chilled out.”
Talking about Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir said that his father was very strict but he was wonderful. It was because of him he got world exposure. He said, “He was the one who sent me abroad for further education thus I have received a huge learning both practical and education wise. Thanks to dad, I could learn the worldly things to a certain extent at least subconsciously… I think my upbringing and the value system instilled by my parents, I will carry that in my children. It’s a lifetime commitment. You aren’t qualified but will become qualified.”
Ranbir discussed how his perspective on his parents altered after he became a parent himself in the same interview. He claimed that his appreciation for his parents grew after he became a father.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor will next be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial Animal. It also features Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol.
