Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a video of himself trying the zipline in Wayanad on his Youtube channel
Congress leader Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday experienced Kerala’s longest zipline in Wayanad, promoting tourism in the landslide-affected region. The visit came ahead of the scheduled bypolls in Wayanad on November 13, where his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is contesting for the Lok Sabha seat.
Posting a video of his zipline journey on YouTube, the Congress leader said that despite the recent challenges faced by the landslide, the area is filled with “incredible attractions.”
“On Priyanka’s campaign trail in Wayanad, I had the chance to connect with some truly inspiring locals. Despite the recent challenges, they’re not giving up. They’ve built incredible attractions here – the largest giant swing in South India, a drop tower, and a thrilling zipline – all to show visitors that Wayanad is as stunning and safe as ever. I even tried the zipline myself, and I loved every second of it,” the Congress leader added.
The Leader of the Opposition can also be seen inviting his sister Priyanka Gandhi to join him on the zipline challenge. Priyanka can be seen standing at the spot to cheer Rahul.
In the video, Rahul can be seen interacting with locals, adding adding that, “There is no problem in Wayanad. The landslide was a localised event, so tourism must not be damaged.”
Earlier this year in July, heavy rains triggered multiple landslides across Wayanad, claiming hundreds of lives across Kerala.
Refering to the landslides, Rahul said, “The recent landslide has left tourism hanging by a thread, and livelihoods are really suffering—from shopkeepers to homestay owners and the adventure park team, everyone is working hard just to keep things going. Hearing their stories, I felt both deep concern for their struggles and immense admiration for their resilience.”
Notably, Priyanka Gandhi made her poll debut from the Wayanad constituency after Rahul vacated the seat following his Rae Bareli win in the Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year. Rahul Gandhi had emerged victorious from both Wayanad and Rae Bareli constituencies.
He vacated the Wayanad seat later, which is now being contested by his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
