Queen Mary and King Frederik of Denmark share cosy snap celebrating their 20th wedding…

Queen Mary and King Frederik of Denmark have shared a snap of them looking cosy to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on Instagram – but appeared frosty as they arrived into Oslo.

The royals are currently sailing around in their ship Dannebrog and are in Norway for a state visit with their Scandinavian neighbours.

The pair looked cheerful online as as Frederik put his arm around his wife and she leaned into him for the photograph on their pristine yacht.

Mary and Frederik donned matching padded navy and canary yellow gilets, with the Queen donning a black and white striped long-sleeve t-shirt and her husband wearing a plain white shirt.

But camera shots of them docking in the Norwegian capital appeared to tell a different story.

The couple looked frosty as they came into at the harbour, with stern expressions on their faces – a stark contrast to the image that was posed online just hours before their arrival.

The trip has fallen on a ‘very special day’ as they celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary, amid scandals and questions over their relationship.

Australian-born Mary and Frederik’s 23-year romance was often dubbed a ‘real-life fairytale’ after they met in a Sydney pub.

But pictures emerged of the monarch having an evening out with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casnova – the former daughter-in-law of the billionaire Duchess of Alba – in November last year.

The pair were seen walking through Madrid before heading to her apartment building, changing clothes and heading out again for the evening.

The publication of the photos resulted in Genoveva, 47, issuing a statement denying any kind of romantic relationship between herself and the royal and slamming the ‘malicious’ rumours.

Queen Mary, 52, looked elegant in a crisp, white blazer which she paired with a glitzy brooch, a grey fascinator and a blue patterned skirt.

The mother-of-two wore her hair back in a sophisticated, sleek low bun and donned natural makeup.

Her husband King Frederik, 55, looked dapper in his naval uniform.

Their facial expressions soon softened as they greeted their Norwegian neighbours, Crown Prince Haakon, Queen Sonja, King Harald and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

At the start of the month, before they set sail, Mary and Frederik gave an interview to the local press about the strength of their marriage – instead of addressing the rumours that have been swirling around for months.

The King, who was crowned in January after his mother Queen Margrethe abdicated, said: ‘It was very overwhelming and moving. I felt extremely well received.

‘The highlight was when Mary and the children came out and stood right behind me and I had the Danes standing in front of me and waving.  It was one of the most amazing things to experience in my life.’

And Queen Mary was just as complimentary to her husband, saying the moment ‘moved her so much’

She said: ‘I stood with the children and when you stepped out onto the balcony towards your fate, it was a moment that moved me incredibly much.

‘We could hear and feel it, even if we couldn’t see it. It was a beautiful moment. I was both very happy and very proud.’

In the months that have followed their coronation, Mary has fulled speculation by completing a series of solo royal engagements without her husband.

Despite this, the couple say protecting the tradition of the monarchy was important to them.

They told the Danish outlet: ‘We want to be a royal couple who are visible and present throughout Denmark.’
