Qatar Airways Now Flies From Miami To Doha Daily

Qatar Airways was recently awarded 2021 World’s Best Airline by AirlineRatings.com. According to the Australia-based aviation safety and product rating agency, this is largely due to the its “innovation, product, and industry leadership as well as its extraordinary commitment to keeping the world’s critical long-haul air routes open during COVID-19.”

The airline made its US debut of its FIFA World Cup 2022 livery at the Miami International Airport last July 20, 2021. It also marked the opportunity for the airline to announce that it would now be servicing Miami to Doha daily, operated by Boeing 777-300. Business class will now all be QSuites. This means, doors can be closed for privacy, and certain center seats can be configured into two- or four- person blocs, especially helpful if traveling together as a family.

Qatar Airways has been servicing Miami to Doha since June 2014, with popular onward transfers, pre-pandemic to India, Thailand, Pakistan and Nepal, Eric Odone, Vice-President of Sales for Americas shares with Forbes. These days, traffic from this route has shifted to the Maldives and South Africa—two of the airlines’ newest destinations—as well as to Kenya and Tanzania.

Unlike most airlines, Qatar Airways never stopped flying, and this allowed them to adopt the product gradually to the changes brought about by Covid-19. “We made sure that systematically everybody gets a mask, a pair of gloves, hand sanitizer wipes,” shares Mr. Odone. They also provide “Travel with Confidence” kits which include hand sanitizers, masks and gloves. “We were the first airline in the US to mandate masks. In the peak of the pandemic, we were providing face shields to passengers. Crews were full PPE uniforms. We have high standards of hygiene.

With the FIFA World Cup 2022 coming up, preparations have been well under way. “Qatar just reopened last July 12,” Mr. Ordone continues. “As for the country itself, the stadiums are actually ready—they look absolutely amazing, lots of new hotels—that preparation never really stopped. For us at Qatar Airways, it’s more about making sure we have a good assessment of the volume of people wanting to travel because there will be a mixture of scheduled and chartered flights, especially from the Latin American market. We are really excited about it.”
