Priyanka Chopra Jonas and her musician husband, Nick Jonas announced the nominations for the 93rd Academy Awards on Monday where it was revealed that Chopra’s film, The White Tiger, had been nominated in the Best Adapted Screenplay Category. However, an Australian journalist questioned Chopra and her husband’s qualifications as announcers of the world’s biggest film awards. “No disrespect to these two but I’m not sure their contribution to movies qualifies them to be announcing Oscar nominees,” journalist Peter Ford wrote in a tweet.
Sharing a screen recording of her filmography of more that 60 movies on IMDb, Chopra quote-tweeted Ford’s tweet and said: “Would love your thoughts on what qualifies someone. Here are my 60+ film credentials for your adept consideration @mrpford.” Following backlash, the journalist went on to make his Twitter account private. Chopra has been an actor for over 17 years and has starred in some of Bollywood’s finest movies like Barfi, 7 Khoon Maaf, Mary Kom and the pop culture phenom, Fashion.
