Phil Brantingham & Eroni Mawi: Saracens sign prop from Newcastle as Fijian extends stay

Saracens have signed prop Phil Brantingham from Newcastle Falcons.

The 22-year-old loosehead, who has represented England at Under-20s level, will make the move in the summer.

Fijian prop Eroni Mawi has also signed a new contract to stay with Saracens until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 28-year-old, who has been capped 31 times by his country, has made 60 appearances for the club since he joined in 2020, with six of those coming this season.

Brantingham made his debut in a 32-22 defeat by Gloucester in January 2022 and has 25 appearances to his name.

“We have tracked Phil for the last couple of years and we are very much looking forward to welcoming him,” Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall told the club websiteexternal-link.

“He is a young player with great potential and we believe he has the talent and the character to have a great impact at the club.”

The front-rower played both rugby codes at youth level before committing to union.

“I’m really excited to be joining such a huge club at an exciting time in their journey,” Brantingham said. “I can’t wait to rip in and build on the success of Saracens.”
