Old story: politicians promising jobs; despite vacancies not being infinite, everyone hoping they’ll get lucky; on top of all this, the recruitment list is delayed with no explanation; frustrations rise. Enter additional district magistrate K K Singh. Armed with a blue cap, long danda borrowed from a nearby cop, he plays Captain Sarkar and starts bashing a protester while he writhes on the ground and unsuccessfully tries to avoid the blows. The police look on as Singh, probably recently inspired by RRR, gets his steam off against another ‘anti-national’.
But here’s the funny bit. The young man being assaulted has the Indian national flag in his hand. Perhaps the words ‘patriot’ and ‘unemployed’ don’t mix well. But for the gathered mediapersons, it’s a money shot. Chap with tricolour being bashed by ADM while cops look on.
What the people with their cameras aimed at the Patna circus may have forgotten was that someone also captured them watching the spectacle. Not one seems to want to break the ‘magic’ and intervene. Not one of them seems to find it funny. Ha!
