Oscars 2024: India-set documentary feature To Kill A Tiger gets nominated

India-set documentary feature film To Kill a Tiger has been nominated at the 96th Oscars. The feature is set in a small Indian village and directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Nisha Pahuja. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2022, winning the Amplify Voices Award for Best Canadian Feature Film.

The documentary revolves around Ranjit’s relentless pursuit of justice for his 13-year-old daughter, who was abducted and sexually assaulted by three men. Despite the men’s arrest after Ranjit reports the incident to the police, his relief is short-lived. The villagers and their leaders launch a campaign to pressure the family into dropping the charges, making Ranjit’s quest for justice an uphill battle.

To Kill a Tiger is produced by Cornelia Principe and David Oppenheimer. The other four nominees for the Best Documentary Feature Oscar include Bobi Wine: The People’s President, The Eternal Memory, Four Daughters, and 20 Days in Mariupol.
