America’s teachers are some of the best front-line observers of the extent to which communities are creating opportunities for children, and to what extent schools are helping that happen.
Arguably, one of the most important things that a society can do is to provide equal opportunities to all children born into it. One way to know if a society is doing this is if kids born into poor families surpass their parents in terms of income, education and health. When that doesn’t happen, the neighborhood that children are born into strictly defines the paths of their lives.
We want to hear from educators working in kindergarten through high school in U.S. cities.
