OnePlus continues to make big changes for its update policy

OnePlus is revamping its update roll out policy and method which could be beneficial to millions of OnePlus owners.

OnePlus has released a new software upgrade for its smartphones. It has launched a new monthly software series focused on improving the user experience through frequent and timely upgrades. This new program, described in a post on the OnePlus community site, includes versions U120P01 and U120P02, which promise to offer quick enhancements and new features to eligible devices without the usual progressive over-the-air (OTA).

The existing security patches and periodic updates will be enhanced by the recently announced monthly software releases. To ensure that customers get the newest features and enhancements as soon as they become available, OnePlus will distribute these updates to compatible devices. Meanwhile, the in-house apps created by OnePlus will also be updated.

“We are excited to announce the launch of version U120P01 and version U120P02, a new monthly software update series for OnePlus devices which will be incorporated into the regular system upgrades,” the company said via a post on the OnePlus community forum.

“In this update, you will find detailed information about the new functionalities and improvements included. We will continue to provide updates on the progress of the rollout, so stay tuned for further announcements and updates,” the company further added.

Smartphones running OxygenOS 14.00 and higher, as well as older versions like OxygenOS 13.1.0 and 13.00, can be used with the monthly update series. Moreover, distribution of the rollout, which started on August 2, is happening in stages. According to the company, the new version should be fully rolled out by September 6 this year.

In addition, the update is available for the following devices: OnePlus 12 series, OnePlus 11 series, OnePlus Open, OnePlus 10 series, OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus Pad, OnePlus Nord 4 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 4 5G, OnePlus Nord 3 5G, OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G, OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite 5G, and OnePlus Pad Go.

It is suggested that users go to Settings > About device > OxygenOS on their smartphone to see if this update is available. The upgrade procedure will be phased in, starting with a limited number of phones and gradually moving on to a wider distribution.
