In recent days, there has been negative attention surrounding the upcoming film OMG 2, which features Akshay Kumar. The Central Board of Film Certification has increased their scrutiny of film certifications following the controversies surrounding Adipurush and Oppenheimer. As a result, OMG 2 was submitted to the revising committee of the Censor Board, and even the chairperson, Prasoon Joshi, viewed the film.
Following a two-week-long battle and extensive review, OMG 2 has been granted an A certificate without any alterations. The film features Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam in prominent roles. The producers made roughly 25 changes to scenes, dialogues, and characters after extensive discussions with the board. Although the makers were initially pushing for a U/A certificate from the CBFC, the Revising Committee demanded numerous cuts.
An insider disclosed that in order to obtain a UA certification, the examining committee demanded numerous edits. However, the creators of the film were unwilling to compromise the authenticity of the content. As a result, they opted for an Adult certification while still maintaining the film’s integrity and complying with the regulations of the censor board.
Due to censorship issues, there were concerns that the film would not be able to meet its scheduled release date of August 11 and would have to be delayed. However, the team is now preparing for an intense marketing campaign and plans to release the trailer, which has received a UA certificate, within the next few days.
Another controversy arose for the film when a priest from the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain requested the removal of certain scenes that were shot on the temple premises. The priest expressed concern that the film could potentially offend religious beliefs and warned of nationwide protests if his demands were not met.
