Before 2024 came to a close theaters were flooded with a variety of exciting film releases. December alone saw the launch of several major films like Pushpa 2, Marco, Vidhuthalai 2, Baby John, Vanvas, and UI. Among them, Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2, which hit screens on December 5, created a massive buzz at the box office. However, recently, another film emerged to break numerous records, surpassing Pushpa 2 and other December releases, even achieving feats that Pushpa 2 could not.

A Record-Breaking Film

December brought a wave of thrilling film releases, including Pushpa 2, Marco, Vidhuthalai 2, Baby John, Vanvas, and UI. Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 made waves by breaking records previously set by blockbusters like Baahubali 2. But it faced fierce competition from Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which was eventually surpassed by another film, leaving audiences stunned.

Pushpa 2: The Rule Making Its Mark

Allu Arjun’s much-awaited film, Pushpa 2: The Rule, released on December 5, the movie performed outstandingly at the box office from day one. In its first week alone, it surpassed the Rs 1000 crore mark. Although the film continues to leave an impact, there was a noticeable dip in earnings on the fourth Monday. By the 26th day, it recorded its lowest collection. According to the makers, the film had earned an impressive Rs 1750 crore worldwide within 25 days.

This Film Breaks Dangal’s Record In Just 11 Days

In the same month, Shah Rukh Khan’s dubbed version of Mufasa: The Lion King, produced by Walt Disney, created a storm at the box office. The film outperformed Aamir Khan’s Dangal, breaking its global record. According to Sacnilk’s report, Mufasa has now crossed Rs  2800 crore in worldwide earnings. This surpasses Dangal’s 2070 crore, a record that Mufasa shattered on its 11th day. On that day, the film made Rs 5.4 crore, with most of the earnings coming from the Hindi version.

Performance of Vidhuthalai 2 and Vanvas

Vijay Sethupathi’s film Vidhuthalai 2, which was also released in December, started off strong but soon saw a decline in its box office performance. As of now, the film has earned Rs 36.32 crore, with only Rs  52 lakh on its 11th day. Meanwhile, the Kannada sci-fi film UI has been performing better, earning Rs  65 lakh on the 11th day and reaching a total of Rs  30.10 crore. On the other hand, Nana Patekar’s film Vanvas has struggled to make an impact, earning just Rs 11 lakh on the 11th day.
