LUCKNOW: A Noida-based drone startup Tech Eagle claimed to become the world’s first firm to successfully delivered vaccines for the animal husbandry department of Arunachal Pradesh.
The startup used its indigenously developed hybrid drone -Vertiplane X3—which is a fixed wing electric powered vertical take-off landing(VTOL) drone claimed to fly at a maximum speed of 120 kmph for 100 km in single charge with 3 kg payload.
According to Vikram Singh Meena, founder & CEO of the startup whose manufacturing unit is in Gurugram, said, “The flight took off from Kangkong and transported the cargo to Paglam—an aerial distance of 29 km, which was covered by VertiplaneX3 drone in just 20 minutes. Apparently, the road distance from Kangkong to Paglam is about 120 km which takes around 4 hours to cover.”
“Our drone delivered vaccines for animal husbandry department 12 times faster than the ground transportation,” he said.
The flight of the drone was inaugurated by Tage Taki, minister of agriculture, government of Arunachal Pradesh. The state government is working to strengthen the supply chain of the animal husbandry department from Lower Dibang Valley.
Tage Taki, said, “It is a historic event as drone technology has not been used before to deliver life saving drugs and medicines in the veterinary sector. The success of the experimental launch has paved the way for the further use of this technology in the sectors of Agriculture, Horticulture Etc.”
Joint Secretary, department of animal husbandry and dairy for government of India, Upamanyu Basu who witnessed the event, said, “GOI is in the process of developing many more technologies which will aid the farmers in their work. Time taken between diagnosis and treatment should be the shortest, be it for a human or an animal, so the experimental delivery of vaccines would ease the worry of the farmers.”
In 2018, Tech Eagle was the world’s first drone startup to deliver tea by drone in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. In addition, it has successfully completed Asia’s first cold chain Vaccine delivery by drones in Telangana with the World Economic Forum’s- Medicine from the Sky Project.
Furthermore, it has also claimed to have conducted drone delivery of Covid-19 vaccines and medicines in hard-to-reach areas of Himachal Pradesh and Meghalaya and the longest parcel delivery with drones for India Post.
