The Magpies are comfortable in 14th as things stand but a win today could see them move closer to the European positions than the drop zone and almost but guarantee their top-flight status for next season.
Sheffield United, meanwhile, still have plenty to play for too with a top-four finish not out of the question. They restarted their season with a controversial draw with Aston Villa earlier this week after a goal-line technology failure cost them the three points but a victory this afternoon could still see them move into one of the European places.
