An 11-year-old died on Monday after being found in an unconscious state with a shoelace around his neck at New York’s Upper West Side migrant shelter.
According to the police and law enforcement sources, the unresponsive child was found by authorities around 5 pm in the lobby of the Stratford Arms Hotel, which houses migrant families, New York Post reported.
The boy was found with a shoelace around his neck.
He was soon rushed to Roosevelt Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of the death is not known yet and an investigation into the incident is underway.
The hotel on West 70th Street booted single asylum seekers in September to make room for migrant families.
