The makers of the highly anticipated revenge thriller drama Vigilante have finally released the series’ first glimpse. The K-drama features Nam Joo-hyuk, Yoo Ji-tae, Lee Joon-hyuk and Kim So-jin. It was announced that Vigilante has received an invitation to attend the 28th Busan International Film Festival in October. The release date for the show is scheduled for later this year.
On Tuesday, the makers of the series took to Instagram and posted the first looks of the whole cast members. In the pictures, Nam Joo-hyuk was seen wearing a police uniform suggesting to his fans that he could possibly be portraying a student at a police academy.
Based on a popular webtoon, Vigilante revolves around Kim Ji Young, a student of the police academy who transforms into a vigilante and eliminates criminals. The trigger for Kim Ji’s vigilantism was the tragic demise of his mother at the hands of a gangster during his childhood. Consequently, he embarks on a mission to get revenge while concealing his dual identity as an aspiring policeman.
Nam Joo-hyuk’s appearance in a police uniform has already caught people’s attention. He appears serious, focused and committed to a mission. His look suggests that he is a dedicated student during the day but transforms into an anti-hero at night, eliminating those who spread fear and terror in the city from the shadows.
Jo Heon, portrayed by Yoo Ji-tae, leads the investigation team with a strong determination to capture the vigilante. He firmly believes that justice should not be served by individuals themselves.
In the show, Lee Joo-hyuk portrays a character who assists a Vigilante named Jo Kang-ok by providing him with details about various gangsters and malevolent individuals who take pleasure in terrorizing people. It is unclear why he chooses to support Kim Ji-yong, but he appears to be devoted to the Vigilante and his values.
Kim So-jin plays the part of Choi Mi-ryeo, a skilled journalist who played a significant role in drawing attention to the activities of the Vigilante.
On August 24, it was reported by a Korean news portal that the show has been selected to be screened at the 28th Busan International Film Festival before its release on OTT in the latter half of 2023. The series has been invited to the newly established “On-Screen” category, which is Asia’s first official OTT section and showcases the latest series that are yet to be premiered.
